The night we had been planning towards had finally arrived! The big event on the Desi Student Society calendar, the Desi Bi-Annual Ball was upon us and we certainly had our outfits ready.
The ball was a great success overall, we had a few minor hiccups to begin with such as problems with communication in regards to the management and setting up decorations, however it all ran smoothly in the end.
Hello, my name is Romina Napoleoni, I am from Chile, South America. I'm studying Commerce Management in Perth at Polytechnic West.
Perth is a very exciting and cosmopolitan city and you can do several activities here, for example you can go to Kings Park, Margaret River, have fun during the theatre season or just you can enjoy a great concert in the middle of the city. That’s what I did most recently!
For those that like to get down and boogie or simply sit back and listen to some funk, soul, afro or jazz music, Devilles Pad is the place to be! The first Friday of every month, Devilles Pad presents ‘Soul Sugar’, a night full of local, national and international acts busting out the tunes. The club offers a truly unique experience with its ‘Las Vegas/Hollywood’ volcano themed décor. Where else in Perth will you find a fake volcano rising from the dance floor, Gogo dancer’s boogying in cages and guests dressed to the nines in their 1920’s jazz attire?
Western Australia’s own unique sporting event, the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent attracts competitors and spectators from throughout Australia and overseas.
Australia’s toughest white water classic, the annual competition is being held this weekend (the first weekend of August each year) in the eastern region of Perth. The race stretches over an exhilarating 133 kilometres of the Avon and Swan Rivers over two days, as power craft and paddle craft battle with white water rapids and long endurance stretches through the famous ti-trees.
