The night we had been planning towards had finally arrived! The big event on the Desi Student Society calendar, the Desi Bi-Annual Ball was upon us and we certainly had our outfits ready.

The ball was a great success overall, we had a few minor hiccups to begin with such as problems with communication in regards to the management and setting up decorations, however it all ran smoothly in the end.

Western Australia’s own unique sporting event, the Act-Belong-Commit Avon Descent attracts competitors and spectators from throughout Australia and overseas.

Australia’s toughest white water classic, the annual competition is being held this weekend (the first weekend of August each year) in the eastern region of Perth. The race stretches over an exhilarating 133 kilometres of the Avon and Swan Rivers over two days, as power craft and paddle craft battle with white water rapids and long endurance stretches through the famous ti-trees.
